Songwriting

I haven't arrived at doing this but am hoping to grow in it a lot this year. But, I was pointed to a great resource on brooke fraser's blog where she talks a lot about her process. This inspired me to get writing. What are some ways your inspiration comes?
For me, hearing sermons, praying, being convicted by my sin, hearing other tunes, and of course spending time in God's word help me to get the lyrics down. (This is always the hardest part for me). It's hard sometimes to get songs to come naturally. I remember hearing Brenton Brown say that we need to not rely on ourselves so much and ask/seek the spirit to work through us. I feel if I'm not doing that I've failed in many ways. I want to grow in songwriting but unfortunately, it isn't as easy as some of you may think. You can check out Brooke Fraser's blog here... It's been a great resource for me. Enjoy!

Pray For This Year.

Been busy the past week getting things moved in for school. It's been a great week so far meeting all the new freshman. I've even met a couple guys who are into guitar gear as much as me- which is kind of scary. So, this will probably be a good year- but a hard one. This year I am praying I don't get distracted from my studies. I'm praying this year will be fruitful and I will grow closer to Christ and be sanctifying daily. Now this is where you come in, would you pray the same as well? Would you pray that God would use the staff at my school and my friends in dorm life to correct me when i'm wrong, teach me, and help me in the process of sanctification. Sure getting good grades is a very important thing- but what's more important is my relationship with God. So please pray for me as I go through this year and seek to bring Christ all the glory.

Need To Breathe- "The Outsiders"

I've been listening to this band for the past two years and every CD they have come out with has been amazing. Some would call this band the christian Kings of Leon because the singers voice is so similar. And I would have to agree simply because even some of their songs on the record sound similar. . . So what is it that I love so much about this record? What I love so much about it is that not many bands have been putting out records with great musicianship and quality. This band seriously knows how to write a tune. I've heard a lot of CD's in the past few months as they've been coming out and many of them- don't have what this band has. Whatever it is this band is doing when they write there songs it's working. Some bands like to change there style by time they hit album 3- but these guys haven't they have always stuck to their sound which shows their fans that they aren't trying to be something there not, I love that.

Life Is Movin'

Friday was my last official day as the Intern at Harvest. Now that it is all over I have a full week off before school starts and have no idea what I am going to do. This internship has been a time of growth, learning, and a time for me to grow in my relationships with the Harvest staff.
There are a number of things I love about the staff at Harvest and number one is there desire to serve the Lord and honor him with every action and word. I love the Harvest staff because they all desire to be humble men and women. This is something I definitely don't have a handle on but I seek to live this way and pray I am able to. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to serve on staff for the summer with these Godly men and women. I have so many memories and stories from this summer that I will never forget. Praise the Lord for this amazing opportunity!

A special thank you to Joshua Seller who has taught me amazing things this summer. Thank you for pushing me, guiding me, and teaching me all throughout this summer: especially the techy//creative things. Visit his blog here- it's awesome!
